Kyrie Irving buries Golden State Warriors with buzzer beating shot
Another meeting between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers and another game-winning jumpshot from Kyrie Irving. The Western Conference’s most dominant team was up by as many as 13 in the fourth quarter and let their opponent back into the game.
There were many moments to remind the visiting team in Quicken Loans Arena of the events of the summer. Cleveland’s opening introductions are set to highlights from their first championship, which came at the expense of the team from the Bay Area.
When the Cavaliers found themselves down in the fourth, Irving got to work hitting multiple threes to pull them back into striking distance. Finally, when it was time to put the Dubs to bed, Irving got the ball with mere seconds left and buried a fadeaway in Klay Thompson’s grille.
The buzzer sounded and LeBron James’ squad had triumphed 109-108. Golden State will go home with another chance to beat the Cavs in January, but Irving is now officially a serious concern with two signature moments against them in a calendar year.
Stephen Curry was outplayed again in another head to head matchup with Uncle Drew. These small details will determine who emerges victorious in any clash between these two teams for the foreseeable future.
Oakland’s team went out to get Kevin Durant in the offseason so that moments like this June will never happen again. They will have to get on the same page with each other to truly prevent it. Even if the Dubs do, Irving will be waiting and he’s not going anywhere.
